Job Description

Lucas Professional Search Group is currently recruiting on behalf of the Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham-Kent for their next Executive Director.

Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham-Kent (CFDCCK) is a community-based non-profit economic development and investment agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, in partnership with FedDev Ontario. The CFDCCK is a one-stop resource for one-on-one business planning, financing, coaching and counselling within the Chatham-Kent Community.

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and provide leadership and act as the spokesperson for the Corporation in the promotion and delivery of the programs and services that achieve the corporate mandate. Manage the business affairs of the Corporation, build productive community relationships, and maintain collaborative relationships with other Federal, Provincial and Municipal partners.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide direction, leadership and the execution necessary to ensure the successful achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission and vision as well as the implementation of its strategic goals and annual objectives
  • Support an inclusive strategic planning process; reflecting the priorities of the Board; ensure planning decisions are applied in setting annual program/project goals
  • Manage the administration of funds on hand for the financing needs of small businesses along with any funding received from the Government of Canada to support other initiatives being promoted by the Federal Government as applicable 
  • Work with the staff and the Board to prepare a comprehensive budget; ensure expenditures are within the budgeted amounts; monitor the monthly cash flow; prepare budget revisions as needed throughout the year
  • Plan and assist in the implementation of development strategies resulting in a positive impact within Chatham-Kent and promote the benefits of establishing or locating businesses within Chatham-Kent
  • Collaborate with public, non-profit and private sector partners to employ projects and initiatives resulting in the strengthening of the local economy and communities
  • Provide relevant counselling services to businesses, entrepreneurs, and social enterprises for the development of new business or the expansion of existing enterprises
  • Support operations and administration of the Board by being a liaison between Board and staff while acting in an advisory capacity to inform the Board members of current operations
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization including the efficient and effective design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality assurance of programs, products and services
  • Manage the building and tenants including but not limited to the maintenance of the building and its grounds
  • Ensure that the organization observes all federal and/or provincial legislation and is in compliance at all times
  • Identify and evaluate the risks to the organizations people (clients, staff, management, volunteers), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks
  • Manage the development and implementation of a comprehensive funding plan and research available funding sources and prepare necessary funding proposals
  • Manage the efficient and effective administration of the Corporation’s loan portfolio in accordance with related lending policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with monitoring and reporting requirements from funding sources
  • Implement and adjudicate human resources policies, procedures and practices; review the personnel manual annually; make recommendations to the committees as required and carry out all HR related activities
  • Develop key working relationships, strategic partnerships and collaborative arrangements with partners, community groups, funding sources and politicians
  • Raise the visibility of the organization; develop and implement a sustainable marketing campaign
  • Communicate with external stakeholders; publicize the activities of the organization
  • Attend events sponsored by the community
  • Participate on community-based committees as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Graduate degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior management role (both operational & financial management experience are required)
  • Significant commercial lending experience including loan administration, monitoring, deal structuring and risk management
  • Experience working with small businesses/entrepreneurs in a supportive role
  • Superior computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to compile, review, and analyze Business Plans and financial statements
  • Exceptional public speaking ability and a proven track record of successful public relations
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Significant community development experience and a history of community volunteerism
  • Proven fund development and acquisition experience is required
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to travel throughout Chatham-Kent
